Since 2024 I have worked with the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce to expand their Septemberfest event. The event was established in 2022 by Trish Peschl and was intended to be an arts focused fundraising event for the Chamber. After receiving feedback from local business owners and the community, the decision was made to grow Septemberfest and work to establish it as an annual event. Because of my previous experience as a vendor at art markets, I was tasked with finding ways to improve and expand it.

Today the event consists of a silent auction and an Artisan Market with approximately 20 vendors including art, crafts and artisinal food and personal product producers. In addition to the auction and the market we also coordinate with local businesses and organizations to ensure that there are activities happening all along Main Street. These attractions help to drive foot traffic to local businesses in the area. Past events have included a student art market on the Depot lawn and plein air painting demos by local artist Peter Huntoon. In addition to these activities there have also been open houses at ReclaimEd Makerspace, and Otherweis Studio.

As of 2025, with the cooperation of local property owners we have had the incredible opportunity to host the market at Poultney’s new Slate Quarry Park and the nearby Schoolhouse lawn.

My Contributions:

  • Consulted on ways to improve the event: Suggested the addition of entertainment and a separate fundraising aspect (2024-Present)
  • Established documentation of timelines, important contacts, expenses and necessary tasks
  • Coordinated the Artisan Market, including vendor outreach and logistics (2025)
  • Coordinated entertainment (2025)
  • Drafted press releases and represented the Chamber in conversations with the media (2025)
  • Recruited Food Vendors (2025)
  • Design and distribution of print materials (2024-2025)
  • Conducted Vendor and Business surveys to gauge how the event went, and inform the Chamber on ways we can improve future events (2025)
